THE ALLAWAY BOLARD BY THE STAINLES COMPANY
The Stainless Company is a dynamic organisation specialising in
polished stainless steel products for the yacht building industry.
Its R&D department recently designed and developed a bollard
that sinks into a ship’s deck to become almost invisible when not in use.
It has been named the Allaway Bollard.
As stylish as it is practical, this innovative bollard is custom-made,
easy to fit, easy to use In its operating position, sticking out of the deck,
the Allaway Bollard is used just as any conventional bollard is used.
When the Allaway Bollard is not needed, it can be effortlessly pushed
down into the deck, where it automatically locks into position,
flush with the teak deck surface. Not only does this look good, it
also saves precious space on narrow gangways and swimming decks
and the like. And because the same teak is used in the bollard design as
for the decking, the bollard is almost invisible in the locked down position.
To bring it back out for use, simply press it down, and up it pops.
The Allaway Bollard is suitable for both sailing and motor yachts
and can be easily adapted to the client’s needs in terms of tonnage,
purpose and overall design.
In fact, the Allaway Bollard is not mass-produced; each is tailor-made
so that any shipyard can fit its own, unique Allaway Bollards to its yachts.
All components of the Allaway Bollard meet the highest mega-yacht
building industry quality standards and are made of 316L grade stainless
steel, making the bollard eminently resistant to corrosion in seawater environments. In addition, it is completely watertight and suitable drainage measures have been factored into the design.
The bollards can be either welded or screwed into place, making fitting quick,
easy and low-cost. And the use of only the most durable materials and a simple, well-thought out design guarantee longevity and dependable operation.
