Maintenance
There are more than 100 different types of stainless steel, each with its own unique
composition of raw materials such as chrome and nickel.
Stainless steel has a special property: it has a corrosion resistant surface.
Depending on the alloy compound, stainless steel has what is known as a pacified
layer on its surface. Even when the surface is damaged, this wafer-thin layer builds
up again, all by itself, as a result of a reaction with the oxygen in the air or water.
This property means that stainless steel requires no additional protection against
corrosion, and that even after many years it still looks brand new.
We supply a special range of cleaning products for the maintenance and polishing of
stainless steel. For further information, please hit the contact button.
PICKLING AND PASSIVATION
Does the following ring any bells?
Corrosion after machining stainless steel - on welding joints, for instance?
Here’s the solution:
Pickling and passivation!
Pickling after the construction stage:
completely removes the oxide film and any pollutants;
restores corrosion resistance to the same level as the original material;
Removes the chromium oxide film naturally present and reactivates the surface.
Passivation after pickling:
treatment using demineralised water pacifies the stainless steel after pickling.
In short, we can pickle and pacify your products so that the benefits of stainless steel can
once again be fully exploited. You’ll be able to count on the durability and
maintenance-friendliness of your stainless steel again!
